The Steps:
1) Put your iTunes or whatever on random.
2) Post the first stanza from the first 10 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Addendum: If the first stanza includes the song title in the words, skip the song.
3) Bold out the lyrics when someone (you guys) comments, guessing the song correctly.
4) Looking up lyrics on Google or similar is CHEATING and... I will smite you if you do this. Because somehow I will know. Obviously.

#1: "We Looked Like Giants" by Death Cab For Cutie
God bless the daylight, the sugary smell of springtime
Remembering when you were mine in a small suburban town
When every Thursday I'd brave those mountain passes
And you'd skip your early classes, and we'd learn how our bodies worked.

#2: "Goodbye to You" by Michelle Branch
Of all the things I believed in, I just want to get it over with
Tears form behind my eyes but I do not cry
Counting the days that pass me by
I've been searching deep down in my soul, words that I'm hearing are starting to get old
It feels like I'm starting all over again, the last three years were just pretend

#3: "On the Roof Again" by Eve 6
In the throes of young love, Leroy
Didn't think to think and in the blink of an eye
Tied the knot not knowing how to not know
He was the prodigal son this girl had brought home

#4: "Isobel" by Dido
Thought it was funny when you missed the train
When I rang you at home they said you'd left yesterday
I thought it was strange when your car was found
By the tree in Ennis where we used to hang around

#5: "Silent Scream" by TSOL
I'm the cobwebbed stairs, the ancient bones
I'm the shadow rippling cobblestones
I'm the stagnant swamp, the black lagoon
I'm the branches scratching at the moon

#6: "Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy
Am I more than you bargained for yet?
I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear, cos that's just who I am this week.
Lie in the grass, next to the masoleum
I'm just a notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song

#7: "Home" by Marc Broussard
Rolling down the road going nowhere, guitar packed in the trunk
Somewhere 'round the mile marker 112 Papa started hummin' the funk
I gotta jones in my bones before we know we were singin' this melody
Stop the car pulled out the guitar, halfway to New Orleans

#8:
It's been a tough year for all it's worth.
Still keep my phone number at the bottom of your purse
Between your sticks of gum and the reasons why you don't call me anymore
Just in case you change your mind, take a right at the light, I get off work at 5
I'm a song away on your stereo
So just get in your car and drive

#9: "Infected" by Bad Religion
Now here I go, hope I don't break down. I won't take anything, I don't need anything.
Don't want to exist, I can't persist, please stop before I do it again
Just talk about nothing, let's talk about nothing
Let's talk about no one, please talk about no one, someone, anyone

#10:
I used to think if I could realize I'd die then I would be a lot nicer
Used to believe in a lot more, now I just see straight ahead
That's not to say I don't have good times
But as for my days, I spend them waiting

And....Go!

Ha, good job. You beat my friend Andrea to it, who I knew would get it if no one ese did. She introduced me to Dido in 7th grade and was obsessed with that song.

Woo! I'm fast! Go me!
That's probably my favourite Dido song.

Crap. I can totally hear #6 in my head but couldn't tell you the artist/song title for the life of me.

This game almost makes me want to get some sort of music player device.

Hee hee, once you figure out what #6 is you'll probably roll your eyes/kick yourself/go "oooooooh yeah!".

Hint: the title of the post and the cut are lyrics from the same song.

ZOMG

Is it... is it... Fall Out Boy? (Fallout Boy? How do you split that?) and um... ooh, crap. I really don't want to cheat on this, because I think you really will somehow magically know :(

Ha ha, yes, it is Fall Out Boy. Since you got half of it, and you didn't cheat, I'll give it to you. :P

Updated!

WHOO-HOO!

Man, that's a super-catchy song. Now I can't get it out of my head :P

Hahaha. Such is the problem with all their songs. -_-

I have a special playlist on my computer entitled "douche rock". It's full of songs that I like even though I know I shouldn't and I feel like a complete douche bag listening to. Namely, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, new Greenday, etc.

I only listen to it when I'm feeling self-deprecating or I'm really fucking hyper.

#3 is by Eve 6, On The Roof Again. and it should be "throes," silly. :)

I cheated & looked up #8 cuz those are awesome freaking lyrics. but I won't reveal here. :D

Ha, I'll fix the misspelling when I bold it. I didn't actually look up the lyrics for anything, just listening to the song. And I don't think I've ever used the phrases "throes of love". Thanks! :P Oh, Eve 6... That was the first parental advisory CD I ever bought, in middle school, and I thought I was sooooo badass.

#8 is awesome, I love that song. I think I put it on one of the CDs I made Chris, so you could make him give it to you. Or I'll just make you a CD!

Ha, I know! When it came up on my shuffle I think I probably squeed out loud. Then when I went to take a shower I listened to the whole CD in the bathroom. Guiltily.

#1 is "We Looked Like Giants" by Death Cab For Cutie. I actually hate them, but my old roommate listened to them (and that song in particular) CONSTANTLY- it's ingrained in my head.
#5 is by T.S.O.L........ unfortunately I never bothered (and i'm sure i'm not the only one) to pay attention to their song names : )

I like this game.
